The World Motorsport Council met, focusing on the transformation of the existing points system.
The plan was to drastically change the system, but this was eventually scrapped. Instead, the extra point system will be introduced. This was introduced in 2019 for drivers who finished in the top ten and set the fastest lap. This will no longer be the case from 2025. At the beginning of the season, there was talk that instead of the current top 10, points would be awarded to drivers 1-12.
This was ultimately dropped after the current discussions, and with the aforementioned change, the current system will remain in place.
