It is a very rare feat for someone to lead the drivers' competition in F1 (and massively so) who is otherwise only in third place in the constructors' championship.
With McLaren's resurgence and Scuderia Ferrari's strong performance, the final stretch of the 2024 season is becoming increasingly exciting. Max Verstappen's world championship title is not yet in danger, but with another victory for Lando Norris and a possible zero for Red Bull Racing, the two sides would come so close that it could even be called an open competition.
Until then, the Dutchman is racing towards another success, which could be special not only because it would be another title defense. His team is in third place in the constructors' championship, and if Verstappen still manages to win the world title, he could break a 41-year-old record, which happened to be that of Nelson Piquet, who became world champion in 1983 while driving a car for a team that came in third in the constructors' championship. After the dominance of the past seasons, it is very interesting to write about this, but this is exactly the case now.
