There's been a lot of talk these days about Max Verstappen switching teams. Fernando Alonso has his own opinion on the driver, who has been increasingly linked with Aston Martin due to Red Bull's woes.
The Spanish veteran might fear for his position from the current world champion, but Alonso wouldn't be Alonso if he thought that way...
"I wasn't afraid for my place, I have an active contract until 2025. However, I consider these rumors to be a very encouraging sign, both for myself and for myself. The fact that the world champion is most often mentioned with us, along with Mercedes and Ferrari, shows the quality of the project we are working on and what kind of future awaits Aston Martin."
I myself will be on the track as long as I consider myself fast and competitive enough, and of course as long as the team needs me. However, my commitment is long-term, I will be here for many, many more years, maybe in a different position. If that means we don't win the world championship with me behind the wheel, I will still be very proud. And of course, if that were to happen, I would be very happy to accept Max Verstappen as my teammate..." - the legend reflected.
