Joaquín Ramirez, a former coordinator at McLaren, believes it would be a huge disaster if Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso were put on the same team.
At least as big as the one from the duo of Alian Prost and Ayrton Senna, but rather bigger...
"I wouldn't put them in a team, it would be a terribly difficult pairing. I don't think it would make sense to repeat the Prost-Senna madness. We had a terrible experience then, and since then people think twice about such a pairing... The egos of athletes of this level are incredibly big, it would be very difficult to balance them, or rather I would say impossible. I remember Ayrton was always anxious. He said things like that Alain would always get the better car because he had been at McLaren for a long time. That he would always get the better engine because he had a much stronger relationship with Honda than him... On the other hand, we all remember what happened between Fernando and Lewis Hamilton, that things escalated to war between them, and then the championship title went to that. Nobody wants that, it's just a fan's dream, not reality," said Ramirez.
