Ex-driver: Hamilton will be slow to join Ferrari

Ex pilóta: Hamilton lassú lesz a Ferrariba

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

Lucas Di Grassi believes that Lewis Hamilton is past his peak, which is why he would not have signed the seven-time world champion in Ferrari's place.

Lewis Hamilton suffered a lot in one area in 2024, and from this point of view it is no exaggeration to say that the Briton is experiencing the lowest point of his career so far. This is the qualifying performance, in which he was badly beaten by George Russell this year. According to Lucas di Grassi, who played for the Renault F1 team and later won the Formula E championship, all this clearly shows that time has passed on Hamilton, he is expensive and slow, someone else should have got that Ferrari seat.

"If I were Ferrari, I would never have signed Lewis Hamilton. He's expensive, he's already slow, he's absolutely past his prime. Instead, I would have given him a chance to someone who could really reach the top with the Scuderia."
He compensates for his insufficient pace with his wealth of experience, good strategy, excellent teamwork, by helping the team and the settings develop, and by helping them understand their car better.

"But after a year like this, when Ferrari has proven that they can improve on their own, I don't believe they need that. Hamilton is good marketing in the short term, but if they really want to win a world championship, he's not the man for it," said di Grassi, the seven-time world champion.
