Oddly enough, Red Bull's spectacular decline began just as the team announced the departure of Adrian Newey and that he would be "slowly" removed from professional work for the rest of the season. Christian Horner denies the connection.
All of this happened at the Miami Grand Prix, and we remember well whose victory the race ended with...
"We would still be struggling if he was still with us because these problems have been there before. F1 is a team sport and as such, the withdrawal of one person cannot have such a dramatic impact in any way, especially not immediately. Furthermore, Adrian was with the team in Miami until Friday, it is completely out of the question that his presence or absence is the cause of our problems.
"As I said, this is a team sport, so the team will come up with the solution. I myself always wanted Adrian Newey to stay. But that's not the point, what's important is how our powerful, almost unbeatable car has turned into an unmanageable monster..." - mused team principal Horner.
