Honda exited Formula 1 without really going anywhere, and will soon be launching another factory project, this time with Aston Martin Racing. So of course they will have a say in who the Greens choose to put in their cars...
Honda Racing Corporation's head, Koji Watanabe, confirmed this and also hinted at who the finishers might be:
"There are more and more drivers, but fewer seats. We, as a factory team, will continue to have a big role and influence in who will drive our car in our joint project with Aston Martin. Whoever our driver is, we plan for the long term. We have candidates and we know both of them very well.
The team will have the final say, but the basic line-up is the same as it is now at Red Bull. We will have a serious say in the cardinal issues. I would also like to emphasize that it is a great pleasure for us to work with Adrian Newey again, we will do everything to be competitive,” said the leader, who knows both (you understand, Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda very well).
