There was nothing surprising in the sprint race of the Chinese Grand Prix, which started at a not-so-friendly interval from a European perspective. It was even more historic!
Lewis Hamilton had a perfect start, as did the entire field without any problems at the start. Not long after, third-place Lando Norris tried too boldly and fell back to ninth place. Yuki Tsunoda, however, had a better sense of rhythm, and by the third lap he was already in sixth position - presumably not only for the valuable points, but also for the Red Bull Racing seat... Meanwhile, Liam Lawson was modest in 18th place with a questionable overtaking. At the top, Hamilton maintained his advantage of around a second over Max Verstappen, but by the eighth lap the Dutch attacker had come within distance. In the end, nothing came of the action, so much so that instead of overtaking, Verstappen had to pay attention to Oscar Piastri arriving from behind. By this time, the fronts had stiffened, practically all we saw on the track was a train. Piastri eventually chased down Verstappen, but he didn't have the time or the tyres to catch Hamilton. The Briton won his first sprint race and took the Scuderia Ferrari victory ahead of Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen.
