The weekend started badly for Scuderia Ferrari at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where the Reds are fighting for nothing less than the Constructors' World Championship title this weekend.
In which race they were already at a disadvantage, doubly so… While the pilot got food poisoning at the drivers' end-of-year dinner, the battery pack in his car failed. However, everything started like a dream, as Charles Leclerc was able to drive onto the track at the same time as his younger brother, Arthur:
"It all started last night when I got food poisoning. I didn't sleep all night, I was so tired, all I could think about was when I would finally get to bed. The day started really hard... I didn't really feel like getting in the car, but I was very motivated, we could go for a drive together with Arthur. This was a dream come true, the reason our whole family traveled here, so I couldn't miss it just for that reason."
When it turned out that we had problems with the battery and that it would have to be replaced, a lot of things came to mind. First of all, I could miss the opportunity to be on the track with my brother on a Formula 1 weekend. Then there is the constructors' championship… We have to start ten places behind, which made the weekend much more difficult. But overall I see it as a challenge! I feel a little better, I sleep well at night and I come back with charged batteries. What we need is a great tomorrow and an amazing Sunday!” said the unfortunate Charles Leclerc.
