For Charles Leclerc, Monaco is a special race. The Scuderia Ferrari star has taken pole position several times, but the real jewel, a home victory, is still missing from his collection.
Leclerc now has an inexplicable tingling feeling that the weekend ahead could be, will be, the one where he can make up for this:
"I feel really good here, this weekend is always an extra special feeling. It is for every racer, but especially for me. I grew up here, I used to drive these streets as a kid, and I always wanted to race here. I'm really looking forward to it starting, we've always been competitive here, and I'm not so sure it will be the same this weekend. But I've never been able to perform as well as I wanted to before. We've been preparing a lot for this weekend, and I really want the move to come through, because a podium finish doesn't make me excited anymore. I want to win!!
Red Bull, McLaren and we are usually close in qualifying, and the most important thing here is qualifying. I have to put everything together, and if I can do that, then I have a huge chance of getting what I want: the win! Everything will be clear on Friday, we will see what our pace will be, but I would be surprised if I was not in the running for pole position,” said a motivated Charles Leclerc.
