They've only met for the first time, and they're already sounding the alarm. In fact, Andrea Stella is already envisioning another 2021 season if Max Verstappen isn't sanctioned by the FIA in time.
McLaren is getting stronger from race to race, and Stella is getting more and more tense. It's no wonder, as the stakes are rising...
"What we saw at the Red Bull Ring provided us with a lot of information about how certain situations should be approached in order for the race to be a real race. This has gone very wrong now, and it is a shame because a large number of spectators were left out of the fantastic final laps. Instead, what we saw happened, unfortunately, because the rules were not followed. To prevent this, it would have been enough to warn Max Verstappen with a black and white flag and he would have behaved much more carefully, not closed the gate on Lando. If the FIA does not want a repeat of 2021, then it is time to rein in Verstappen. And we have not even mentioned the track limits.
"If you get a penalty for trying to overtake someone and they skid off the curve with their wheels locked, that's a very bad message. Drivers might not even try to overtake them because they know they'll get a reprimand. We're not disappointed, we just think it's wrong that there's no distinction between real, 'profitable' retirements and those where you're forced off the track due to a manoeuvre," Stella reflected.
