Miami Grand Prix: HERE IS Norris' first race win!

Miami Nagydíj: ITT VAN Norris első futamgyőzelme!

Krisztián Márk Tóth |

As the bathroom sink is, so is the towel: the entire Miami weekend was filled with Max Verstappen's obscene dominance, so why should the main race be the exception? And yet it was!

Max Verstappen had a great start, but the Ferraris were also making good progress behind him. The fact that the first lap went off without a hitch was a mere coincidence, as Sergio Perez entered the first corner in a way that almost knocked out several cars – including Verstappen –… Thanks to this, Oscar Piastri suddenly found himself in the lead, and there were some good battles at the beginning of the midfield. Piastri, meanwhile, kept stealing his way up, and with the help of DRS, he was already in second place by the fifth lap.

The excitement lasted until the seventh lap, from then on the party settled down, only the Lewis Hülkenberg vs Nico Hülkenberg battle provided some excitement. The monotony of long laps was broken by a couple of pit stops, and a short VSC phase, which was ordered due to Verstappen running over the buoy. We could mostly see only tactical struggle, until Logan Sargeant found himself in the wall… Safety Car! All this found Lando Norris at the best moment and position, and even with a tire advantage, who led the not yet completely reorganized field after the close pit stops. This promised a pretty serious opportunity for the youngster who was driving for his first race win. He had a couple of hot moments after the restart, but as we approached the last quarter of the race, the race win seemed more and more realistic and truly within reach.

The Briton kept increasing his lead and with five laps to go he had a lead of over six seconds. There was no indication that Verstappen would be able to make a difference in this match, and in the end he couldn't, so the Miami Grand Prix ended with Lando Norris winning, Max Verstappen second and Charles Leclerc third.
