This was put into words by Lando Norris, who stated: McLaren is the best in 2025, whoever wants to be world champion has to beat them:
"We know we still have a lot of work to do on this year's car. We can't trust ourselves, if we let ourselves go in this situation, we will fail, if we think everything is okay, we will be caught. We will not do that favor!"
However, we see and feel that this year we are the favourites, the team has done a sensational job, our car is really flying. But we are aware that there will be races where we will suffer. For example, if the season opener had been in Bahrain, I don't think we would have won... But the fact is that this year we will be the team to beat if someone wants to fight for the world championship title. We are at the forefront with two drivers who will chase and push each other, and Oscar Piastri will not often do us the favor of making mistakes. We were already strong in qualifying because we constantly accelerated, motivating each other, and squeezed the last tenths out of the car. So, the car is good, but our team is also very strong, and this is just the beginning,” Norris pointed out.
