50-50% split tire tactics, not exactly busy practice, tangential walls, strong McLaren, weak Red Bull, suffering Mercedes - this is the summary of the second free practice session of the Singapore Grand Prix.
After the first laps, Charles Leclerc was in the lead ahead of Lando Norris, and Max Verstappen continued what we have become accustomed to from him in the past races: he continued to suffer… This time, Sergio Perez also struggled spectacularly, somehow the entire RB could not find or feel the Singapore rhythm, the wheel spins. As we noted above, this practice was not exactly a “parade”, we reached the halfway point of the practice with sleepy uneventfulness, where the soft compound trials came. In this, Lando Norris and the two McLarens were the strongest… Although the writer of these lines does not really sympathize with Liberty Media’s aspirations, the “results” of its operation so far (not to mention the things Stefano Domenicali has been wearing), it is undeniable that the current FP1/2/3 format is dying in this form. It is not really possible and not worth saying or knowing more about this stage than Lando Norris pulled ahead of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. And this lineup holds the potential for another exciting race weekend. Let's hope it happens!
