Red Bull sporting director Jonathan Wheatley is leaving his position and will become team principal of Audi's factory team starting in the 2026 season.
Strangely enough, all this was not announced by the winning team, Audi, which will debut in 2026, but by Red Bull Racing:
"We have had a long and successful relationship with Jonathan, spanning over 18 years. We will never forget the seven individual and six constructors' world titles we achieved together, which will forever serve as a benchmark in the history of Red Bull Racing. He will remain in place until the end of the season, as our aim is to defend both titles, then he will take a leave of absence until the autumn of 2025. We all thank him for everything and wish him the best for the future. There are a number of incredibly talented professionals at the team to choose from to replace him, and we will announce our selection soon," said Christian Horner, who was speaking out of the blue.
