The Red Bull Racing individual world champion says McLaren's youngsters, especially Lando Norris, still have a lot to learn.
The Dutchman believes that if McLaren had been more consistent, it would have been the Papayas, not him, who would have celebrated the individual world title:
"Lando Norris would have won the world championship, no matter how big my advantage is. Simply because they had the best car, but they still have a lot to learn as a team and individually if they want to convert these credits into victories. They pulled off the constructors' championship, that's okay, but they could have prepared better for the drivers' race. Instead, what do I hear? Papaya rules... Honestly, is this some kind of joke? What does this mean? That you can't compete? When they talk to me like that on the radio, I immediately say: shut up...!! That's what was missing, so that they could show strength." - revealed the secret Max Verstappen.
Do you think if Lando Norris had been more assertive in certain situations, would he really have had a chance to beat Max Verstappen?
