We have reached the final race of the 2024 racing season, which for many meant a farewell, for some a debut, and for others a world championship title.
The start was interesting, Max Verstappen made an extremely agile pass to Oscar Piastri, and with that momentum he spun the Australian, as well as himself… Meanwhile, the other Red Bull did the same, Sergio Perez lost the battle with Valtteri Bottas and ended up outside the coast line. The VSC phase followed, then Piastri settled Franco Colapinto's race, who had an unfortunate puncture. Meanwhile, Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz and Pierre Gasly were in the lead, but this was only until the pit stops.
Due to the different tactics, we saw the order of Norris, Sainz, Russell, and practically an uneventful train ride for long laps. Meanwhile, Valtteri Bottas got a puncture and also unfortunately knocked out Kevin Magnussen. Paradoxically, this was the inglorious end to Bottas' race, which had been performing excellently all weekend... The incidents after the start did not go unpunished either, Verstappen received ten seconds for his "action" against Piastri, while the latter also received the same for the mishap against Colapinto.
After Lewis Hamilton, who had been the last to leave, returned to the track, the display showed Norris, Sainz, Leclerc in the order. The fronts froze, Norris, the two Ferraris and the two Mercedes, and behind them Verstappen. Only in the upper midfield were there smaller battles, back and forth overtaking, and in the gray final race the most curious thing was the performance of Gasly and Hülkenberg. And then there was McLaren's last-minute Constructors' World Championship title with Lando Norris' victory, the podiums of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, and of course Lewis Hamilton's beautiful last-lap overtaking of George Russell.
