You may all remember Lewis Hamilton's unfortunate qualifying on Saturday. The seven-time world champion crashed out in Q1, but came back from the back of the field to finish fourth in the race.
Although the team's preliminary simulations suggested that sixth place would have been the maximum possible, Hamilton thoroughly refuted this, and according to his (former) boss, if he hadn't been so unlucky during qualifying, he would have won:
"I always try to look at events impartially, with the eyes of an analyst, and in my opinion, if that buoy had not unfortunately got in his way and he had finished qualifying earlier, Lewis would have fought for the win. However, this does not leave any trace in my mind, as we have achieved so many victories and successes together that what happened or did not happen now has no effect on them and our relationship.
But you have to give him what he deserves: He raced as a world champion in Abu Dhabi. He started from 16th place and worked his way up to fourth place patiently and tactically, finishing ahead of the Red Bulls. In my eyes, this is a world champion performance, no question about it!” - praised his driver Toto Wolff for the last time as team boss.
