This was stated by the team's director, Mattia Binotto. The team, which will join Formula 1 in 2026, does not want to sit idle for long, and would win a championship by the end of the decade.
This is a tough undertaking, but with a factory background behind the project, it is not at all unthinkable:
"We don't just have to climb a mountain, we have to climb Mount Everest itself. It will take several years before we are truly successful, but our goal is clear: we want to be in contention for the championship by the end of the decade. At the moment, there is still a big difference compared to what I saw at Ferrari, I could even say that there is a gap separating us. The infrastructure, the number of people, the thinking is different, we have to create a big team from a small team. Our performance in 2024 is what it is because we are no longer focusing on 2024, but on 2026. That is where our work, our developments, all our concentration are directed.

"Audi entered Formula 1 to be a competitive member of the field. This will be the case until we win, but also after. We think long-term, we want to develop into a winning team and be a useful part of the sport. F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport and it is fantastic that Audi has finally committed to it," said the Italian specialist.
