The British press has reported a truly astonishing contract worth no less than one billion pounds, which is incredible even if Max Verstappen were to receive it in more than one season.
The news mentions an annual salary of $200 million, which is an absolute record in itself, no one has ever earned that much in Formula 1 in a single season. The newspaper also believes that the draft contract is long-term and is further enhanced with high bonuses.
Aston Martin is said to be taking the matter so seriously that their CEO, Jefferson Slack, is already using the trump card in sponsorship negotiations: "if they get Max Verstappen"...
Aston Martin of course denies everything, their official position is a rigid denial, they are not looking for a new driver. Of course. Just as they were not looking for Adrian Newey, and when it turned out that they were, they played the same game there too. Oh, but! It is worth thinking about what will happen if, say, Red Bull Racing goes wrong with the developments in 2025 without Newey, and things get straight at Aston.
We leave the rest to your imagination...
