Qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix began on a still wet track, but already drying curves, where although Max Verstappen proved to be the fastest by a large margin, it was Charles Leclerc who will start from pole tomorrow.
Accordingly, in Q1 everyone drove on temporary rain tires, and the situation was tricky because the asphalt was dry, but the weather forecast promised precipitation. After the first attempts, Max Verstappen was in the lead, but as we know, his qualifying performance this weekend was not really relevant due to his grid penalty. Behind him, Oscar Piastri and Pierre Gasly ran strong laps, while the same could not be said for the two Haas, Yuki Tsunoda, Logan Sargean and Guanyu Zhou, who were forced to say goodbye early.
The big question of Q2 was whether the precipitation predicted for the previous stage would arrive or, on the contrary, the changeover point would be approaching. The conditions were more inclined towards rain, in which Max Verstappen was the fastest, against Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. In the end, Verstappen remained in the lead, behind him the two Mercedes came in 2nd and 3rd, while the names of Alexander Albon, Pierre Gasly, Daniel Ricciardo, Valtteri Bottas, Lance Stroll were scratched among the eliminated.
In Q3, after the first shots, the order was Verstappen, Perez, Hamilton, but the last laps overrode the seemingly impossible Red Bull Racing pole. Even though Max Verstappen was unbeatable that day, Charles Leclerc ran the lap that will allow him to start from pole position tomorrow ahead of Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton. An exciting race is expected, as Max Verstappen will try to catch up from a ten-place grid penalty, while Scuderia Ferrari has a good chance of winning the race. We'll see...
