Gerhard Berger, the former Scuderia Ferrari classic, did not try to take the burden off his former team's shoulders. Quite the opposite!
Berger believes that with the development of recent years and the arrival of Lewis Hamilton, everything has come together for Ferrari to finally step out of its own shadow this year. The Austrian believes this will be THE year when it all happens:
"I would put all my money on Ferrari this season. I can't say whether Lewis Hamilton or Charles Leclerc will be world champions, or whether they will win the drivers' or constructors' championship - but they will win. They will win the championship! They are incredibly strong in terms of powertrain and chassis, they are probably one of, if not the strongest, driving pairs of all time. In addition, Hamilton has brought a level of motivation to Maranello that is second to none. He needed new stimuli, and I think he will get them perfectly at Ferrari.
"He only tasted victory occasionally at Mercedes, and now he's in an environment where everyone is hungry for success. I'm sure he'll give it his all, but I'm afraid he'll have a hard time keeping up with Leclerc's speed. What could help him a lot is his friendship with Frederic Vasseur. I think Hamilton is not just a driver, but also a leader who will be able to inspire and drive the entire team to victory!" - said Gerghard Berger, explaining why he considers the Italians to be the best contenders for 2025.
