Winning is a nice thing, winning a championship is even nicer, but probably the most beautiful thing is when your rivals recognize you. Especially when they are the ones you look up to.
Max Verstappen has never made a secret of how much he admires and likes Fernando Alonso. Now Alonso has not… One of, if not the greatest champions of all time, paid tribute to Verstappen, and in the process, he also revealed a very interesting thing:
"There's no story, Max clearly did the best job this year, he squeezed things out of the RB20 that weren't really there... Huge congratulations to him for that! Not only because he won his fourth title, but he won it with a car that was nowhere near dominant. We've seen flashes of brilliance from him many times that can't be attributed to the car, but to his genius. The best example was the Brazilian Grand Prix, where he showed what true talent means.
"There was no better driver this year, we can all learn from him!" - the two-time world champion Spaniard praised Max Verstappen.
