As we wrote last week, news has spread in Las Vegas that Andretti, who has been condemned to rejection until now, could still be on the 2026 grid with an interesting change, under a different name.
Now, official confirmation has arrived, and the Formula 1 World Championship field is indeed expanding! Here are the statements from those involved:
"The involvement of General Motors and Cadillac in this project is a very important and positive sign and a step forward for the development of our sport. We are looking forward to seeing how the project develops and grows, we are sure that everyone will support them," said Stefano Domenicali.
"GM is an incredible global brand with impressive partnerships. I fully support the joint effort of the FIA, Formula 1 and General Motors, and we have already worked out an agreement to have the team at the start of the 2026 World Championship. The parties are committed and will work together to ensure this process runs smoothly," said Mohammed ben Sulayem.
“F1 is the pinnacle of motorsports, and as such, it demands continuous innovation from those who participate in it. It is an honor for GM and Cadillac to join this elite, as we have long been committed to taking the sport of F1 to the next level by competing with passion and integrity.
