Former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has spoken out harshly to Lewis Hamilton. He says Hamilton shouldn't settle down for a long stay in Italy.
This may have something to do with the traditions of Scuderia Ferrari, Maranello is not the place where people will necessarily be delighted with Hamilton's celebrity-evoking antics. Ecclestone says this does not strengthen the Briton's position either:
"His contract runs until 2026, but he won't finish it. Piero Ferrari brought him there and he thinks he did the team good, I hope he won't regret his decision. I hope they don't say we wish we hadn't done it... Age is one thing, competitiveness is another. I think about Lewis, he's actually tired, he's not as motivated as he used to be. If he hadn't won a world title yet, maybe it would be different, that would drive him. But he's already got seven. The other root of the problem is the things he wears.
"He's certainly done a lot of things that make you dislike him. I don't understand why someone would dress like that as a world champion and a millionaire, I really don't like it, it's inappropriate. I don't understand why he keeps doing this nonsense... He's obviously a talented driver, but he's very overrated," Ecclestone harshly criticized Hamilton.
