Chinese Grand Prix: EASY Verstappen victory

Kínai Nagydíj: KÖNNYED Verstappen győzelem született - FansBRANDS®

Krisztián Márk Tóth |

The Chinese Grand Prix took place in rainy but dry conditions, resulting in a start-finish victory for Max Verstappen.

The start was exciting, as Fernando Alonso, who started from third place alongside Max Verstappen, also seized the moment well and immediately overtook Sergio Perez on the outside curve. The Spaniard almost even overtook Verstappen, but he easily held second place with his Aston Martin against the much stronger Red Bull. For five laps, when Perez arrived in the race and chased him down… Shortly after, Lando Norris also passed Alonso, who after the initial flickering could no longer perform miracles behind the wheel of the green car with a more modest racing pace. Interesting battles also took place in the midfield, with Haas and Scuderia Ferrari fighting spectacularly, from which, not surprisingly, the latter emerged victorious.

We slowly reached the first tire changes, which will remain memorable due to Alpine's mistake: the French pulled Pierre Gasly's car off the lift, which also dragged one of their mechanics with it. There were no personal injuries, but we witnessed scary moments. Shortly after, Stake stopped under Valtteri Bottas in turn 11, which is a very fast-paced, dangerous part of the track, but despite this, the race management only reacted to all this with VSC. On lap 23, the virtual safety cart was replaced by a safety car, and several people took advantage of the opportunity and changed tires again. Alonso did the same, who put on soft tires for himself... Early on. The SC had barely left, and he could have come back, as several people in the crowded field before the restart punched each other and got a puncture. The race restarted on lap 32, with immediate penalties: Lance Stroll was given a 10-second penalty for punching Daniel Ricciardo (the Australian was forced to retire), and Kevin Magnussen was also penalized. For long laps, nothing significant happened, while Perez overtook Charles Leclerc and reached the bottom step of the podium.

In addition, Lewis Hamilton's catch-up is also worth mentioning, the Briton started from very low, but with some luck he was able to show a top 10 position by the end of the race, and Alonso also collected the fastest lap in addition to scoring points. However, the overall picture of the race did not change, Max Verstappen again won easily ahead of Lando Norris and Sergio Perez!
