One of the biggest shocks of the 2024 season, apart from Lewis Hamilton's move to Ferrari, was Adrian Newey's departure from Red Bull Racing. Helmut Marko believes he is heading in the same direction.
Marko praised the engineer for achieving epochal results with the team, but also drew attention to the fact that there is life after Newey, and Red Bull will not "collapse".
"I think that he will choose red rather than green from his options. It would have been nice to have him in the team in 2026, during the big changes, but this is Formula 1, there are no irreplaceable people here. At the same time, it would be a shame to deny that Adrian is a true legend. He is the best F1 designer ever, who always gives his maximum when he is needed the most. For example, when a new era was ushered in the sport... He was our leader, talented engineers flocked to us just because of his name, who all wanted to work with him. Now he is leaving, and this myth is passing away, but I don't think that will cause us to fall back. We are still the strongest team from a technical point of view, with only one thing to do: to focus on winning the world championship and staying on the right track," said Helmut Marko with extreme confidence.
