Few laps, accidents, red flag interruptions, George Russell's success. In short, this is what happened in the first free practice session of the Mexican Grand Prix.
He had already recovered from his 400th race weekend, but with Fernando Alonso still watching from the pits and five youngsters, the field lined up for FP1. Oliver Bearman at Scuderia Ferrari, Robert Schwartzman at Stake, Felipe Drugovich at Aston Martin, Patricio O'Ward at McLaren, and Andrea Kimi Antonelli at Mercedes were able to get back into the car. The lap had barely started when a red flag was already called due to debris on the track. Antonelli managed to drive through it, and luckily for the young Italian, the car was not damaged. The session had barely resumed when it had to be interrupted again, this time Bearman and Alexander Albon did not understand each other, which ended in a serious accident. Albon even reset his car, but Ferrari also got a fair share. And what else happened in practice? Nothing really special, George Russell won this stage ahead of Carlos Sainz and Yuki Tsunoda.
