McLaren has been increasingly reminiscent of its former self in recent times: wins and second places in Miami and Imola with Lando Norris, and a strong second place in Monaco with Oscar Piastri.
All this on two out of three tracks that, to put it mildly, are not really suited to McLaren's cars. The fact that they fought for victory on tracks with such different characteristics and difficulty shows that they are heading in the right direction. So much so that Piastri says that from now on it may even be a basic principle for them to enter the ring everywhere for victory...
"Miami has been one of our most hated venues so far, our car performed the worst there. McLaren has always been strong in Imola, we weren't surprised by that, but Monaco is another track that we've had completely different experiences with in previous years. Our car's biggest strength isn't the multitude of slow corners, but we still performed very well, and with a little luck we could even have won. I think we can stand on the grid with confidence wherever we go from here!"
"We no longer only have the chance to get good results on fast, fast tracks like before, and that sounds very exciting for our future. We are getting closer to Red Bull and I think we can fight for victory every race weekend from now on!" - said Oscar Piastri confidently.
What do you think, can we really expect a tough Red Bull challenger in McLaren?
