It looks like Formula 1 could take inspiration from the Brad Pitt movie for an interesting innovation.
Anyone who has been to any motorsport event will have seen the teams manually pushing the cars back into their pits from both scrutineering and parc fermé. The same is true for pit stop practice, which in F1 usually falls on Thursday media day. Here, the mechanics are divided into two groups, one brigade pushes the car in simulating a pit stop, while the other changes the wheel and nose cone. In the film made by Brad Pitt, these scenes were filmed with an electric motor-assisted replica car produced exclusively for this purpose. Pitt has now said that the teams envied the idea they came up with, and are now thinking about installing an additional battery that would be installed only and specifically for these pit stop practice sessions. This would reduce human resources, and the simulation performed with it would also be more lifelike due to the higher arrival speed.
An interesting idea, thanks to which the film crew will write itself into Formula-1 history twice / PITTstop :) /?
