Carlos Sainz believes his former teammate and friend may have missed out on victory, but McLaren has a package that is destined for great things.
It's true, McLaren's star has been shining very high lately: race wins, pole positions, and an absolute feeling that the orange team will soon emerge as a truly potent world championship challenger:
"Honestly, I think McLaren has the most balanced car in the field at the moment. Red Bull has been struggling on certain tracks recently, just like we have, but if you look at McLaren, they are fast everywhere. Here, for example, Barcelona, where they are fast at low speeds, they go through turns three to nine with the floor, they were the fastest in turn five...
"I don't see their weak point, probably because they don't have one. For now, Red Bull is still on top, but if I were them, I would be seriously worried about McLaren's development and raw pace. Even Christian Horner admitted that if Lando Norris hadn't dropped to third place and lost time behind George Russell, he would have overtaken Max Verstappen. Lando has built a 15-second advantage, which is ominous for the others as well," said Sainz, who has not really found his rhythm lately.
