The Bahrain tests clearly showed that Charles Leclerc was better than Lewis Hamilton in every aspect of the game. According to Dr. Helmut Marko, although Hamilton is capable of making sudden, out-of-nowhere improvements, if he doesn't, he's finished...
Ralf Schumacher, who works as an F1 expert for Germany's Sky Sport, doesn't understand the hysteria surrounding Hamilton. And seeing the test results, he finds what's happening in public particularly disorienting:
"You can't expect great things from him. Even the most optimistic estimates say that Hamilton is three or four tenths behind, but it's also true that it's not a tragedy at this point. Maybe he still needs to get used to the car, his new situation, things like that... What's happening right now is equivalent to an earthquake, everyone sees him as a messiah. He's a seven-time world champion who obviously changed teams because he wants to fight for the world title again. In theory, he'll be able to do it, but I'm absolutely sure it won't happen in his first year. I think anyone who expects that from him is living in a dream world. Meanwhile, if Charles Leclerc is consistently better than him and stays that way, then it's completely obvious that the end is here for Lewis Hamilton, he's already past his zenith. And we all know that Scuderia Ferrari is not very patient with drivers who don't perform... So ultimately, Ferrari could be the team that burys Lewis's career. The other way around is also true. "It could be that Lewis Hamilton beats Charles Leclerc. But I don't see much chance of that," Ralf Schumacher mused.
