While there is no guarantee that Aston Martin will become a world-beating team, there are signs that it is. Steiner says Verstappen will accept the offer even if the Greens are not competitive:
"One billion is a huge number. Even if Max were last, he would do it for one billion right away. Not many teams can afford that, but Aston definitely can, they can put a billion on the table. This is a high bar, an absolute record in the history of F1, probably no one will ever break it. I mean, if this is real and not just speculation... I don't think it is. The reason why I don't think it would come together is the current driver pairing. Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll have contracts until 2026, I don't think Fernando would leave, and I don't believe Lawrence Stroll would sacrifice his own son on the altar of business. However, from 2027 the situation will be completely different..." - Steiner left the door open.
