To some surprise, Scuderia Ferrari dominated the US Grand Prix, with Lando Norris and Max Verstappen, who were previously considered favorites, only battling for third place.
Charles Leclerc recognized the "loophole" offered by Lando Norris and Max Verstappen at the start, and starting from fourth place immediately took the lead. His compatriot, Lewis Hamilton, also had a great start, closing in on 12th (!!) place from the last row in a few corners, but as fast as he was, his fate quickly overtook him... The Briton slid into the gravel at the same place where George Russell did in yesterday's qualifying session, so he said goodbye to further struggles. The safety car came out, and even with the safety car's departure, the essential picture did not change: Leclerc, Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz were still in the lead. Behind them were the two McLarens, Lando Norris - Oscar Piastri. Then came another spin by Guanyu Zhou, and some fighting in the back half of the field, but it was already obvious that the 2024 US Grand Prix would not be recorded as the race of the decade.
After the pit stops, the lead changed somewhat, with the two Scuderia Ferrari cars dominating the race, with Verstappen struggling behind them on the hard compounds. We saw plenty of different strategies and tactics, but unfortunately fewer moments reminiscent of motor racing. We could expect the extremely reserved Norris to set the Austin desert on fire, and Liam Lawson, who performed brilliantly in his return race. The intensity of the race was clearly shown by the fact that the broadcast showed nothing but Norris chasing Verstappen for about ten long laps - for the simple reason that nothing else happened.
In the end, Norris managed to swap places, but illegally, so Max Verstappen ended up third behind US Grand Prix winner Charles Leclerc and second-place Carlos Sainz.
