The collective testing days continued today in Bahrain, where this time a Williams was the fastest, ahead of the two Ferraris.
The weather on Thursday was not exactly ideal either, with a cloudy, slightly rainy track welcoming the field. Nevertheless, George Russell quickly improved on yesterday's best result, and Lewis Hamilton then took the lead. Then came the surprise in the second hour, with such intense rainfall that work could not continue. The reason was quite ridiculous: the stables were not prepared with rain tires (WTF??)
After the forced break, Hamilton made even more of an effort, which gave him the best time of the morning. Only one person could surpass this lap, Carlos Sainz, who was the closest to Hamilton in the morning stage, and ended the day ahead of the Briton on the same compound. Sainz had an extremely productive day, driving the Williams alone, completing 120 laps without any problems. The same could not be said for Liam Lawson, who also completed a full day, who struggled a lot with the Red Bull's technical side, but there are still problems with his confidence. McLaren "let go" of this day, and last year's constructors' winner apparently worked on something else this time instead of chasing time results, focusing on long stages.
