After Saturday's unbearable comedy, qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix was made up for today, where Lando Norris took pole position.
In Q1, which was postponed to the next day, the field was faced with almost the same conditions as the previous one. Accordingly, the first stage showed a cautious feeling, with many skids and accidents. Franco Collapinto was the first to fall victim to this and slid into the wall, causing a short red flag phase. These conditions were best read by Max Verstappen, Alexander Albon and George Russell, while the eliminations eventually included Lewis Hamilton, Oliver Bearman, Nico Hülkenberg and Zhou Guanyu, along with the aforementioned Collapinto.
We had barely reached the halfway point of Q2 when Carlos Sainz copied Franco Colapinto and put his Ferrari into the wall almost in the same place where his Argentine colleague had previously. Another red flag followed… At that time, Oscar Piastri, George Russell, Lance Stroll were in the lead, but it was obvious that this would not be the final order with the introduction of intermediate tires. Stroll's retirement shortly after started an avalanche, after which red flag after red flag followed. Valtteri Bottas, the two Red Bulls, Carlos Sainz and Pierre Gasly were also forced to say goodbye, as this stage was not restarted despite the remaining time. All this came in handy for McLaren, especially Norris…
Q3 turned into total chaos, first Alonso crashed, then Albon crashed the Williams, and in the end only seven remained in the top 10. In the last few clear minutes of qualifying, we saw continuous improvements, where the trio of Lando Norris, George Russell, and Yuki Tsunoda proved to be the fastest.
