The British Grand Prix started in cool weather at Silverstone, after a lackluster FP1, which was won by Lando Norris.
In the second practice session, most of the front-runners started on medium tyres, with Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton fastest. It was soon time to switch to softs, at least for Red Bull, as Verstappen put on the red-sidewall Pirellis at the end of the first quarter hour.
The Dutchman was in the lead for a while, but soon the McLaren arrived, and the Lando Oscar Piastri duo took over the lead from him. This order did not change later on, as the long stages and race simulations came. Some precipitation also fell in the last minutes, which also blocked the second free practice, most people waited in the pits for the end of the stage.
