Jos Verstappen made it very clear to Red Bull Racing after the Monaco Grand Prix that he was not the happiest man in the paddock. Specifically, he told the world press that the days when Red Bull was the best were over.
Jos also pointed out that although his son, Max Verstappen, is able to conceal the fact that Scuderia Ferrari and McLaren are rapidly closing in on them, with such progress, he does not know how long this situation can be sustained:
"It really seems like we've reached the end of the era when Red Bull was still able to dominate. Maybe it's time to start focusing a little more on racing and strengthening communication, because that's not what's happening right now... I have no doubt that there will be more races where Red Bull will be the first force, but at the same time, the loss of performance that we can see now is very ominous. I'm curious to see what they come up with for this, but something will have to be done, and very quickly! They need to figure out where the problem comes from, because it's clearer than day that the direct rivals are closer race after race. Max's class is still able to somewhat cover this up reassuringly, but at the same time, just look at what's happening with Sergio Perez. It's all scary..." - Verstappen's father said with a frown.
